COURT JUDGMENT: IMO APC REAFFIRMS GOV UZODIMMA'S SENATORIAL CANDIDACYu...SAYS PARTY AWAITS LEGAL REVIEW

By Emmanuel Kanayo

The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed Governor Hope Uzodimma as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District, dismissing social media reports suggesting that the party's position on the ticket has changed.

In a statement issued on October 29, 2026, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, *Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, PhD*, the party described the circulating reports as unverified and expressed concern over their spread across various online platforms, particularly by opposition figures.

The party maintained that no purported change should be taken as its official position.

According to the statement, Governor Hope Uzodimma secured the party's senatorial ticket through its primary election, which it said was won with overwhelming support from party members.

The APC therefore urged its members, supporters and other stakeholders to rely only on official communications and to avoid distractions arising from the controversy surrounding the Imo West ticket.

On the legal dimension, the party disclosed that its legal department would examine the outcome of a legal intervention relating to the candidacy and determine appropriate steps to be taken.

The announcement comes amid political discussions surrounding the Imo West senatorial ticket ahead of the forthcoming electoral contest. While the APC has restated its position on Uzodimma's candidacy, the statement indicates that its legal team will review relevant legal developments before deciding on any further action.

The party also called for sustained commitment from its members across Imo State, urging them to continue working towards the APC's electoral objectives in all constituencies, while emphasizing unity, discipline and focus as political preparations continue.
