Igbo Kingdom Traditional Rulers Council Moves To Strengthen Security Across Kingdom.....Mounts Strategic Security Posts.......Announces Burial Date for Late Ochie

By Emmanuel Kanayo

The Igbo Kingdom Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs has unveiled fresh measures to strengthen security and protect lives and property across Igbo Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The decision was taken at the Council's meeting presided over by the Onye-Ishi-Ala of Igbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, King Dr. Samuel Ndiwe Amaechi, DSSRS, KSC, JP.

At the meeting, members reviewed security reports from various communities and raised concerns over the safety and welfare of residents, visitors and persons doing legitimate business within the kingdom.

A major resolution was the establishment of strategic security posts and other proactive community surveillance measures to prevent criminal activities and avert potential security threats.

The Council stressed the need for coordinated security, effective communication among communities that make up the kingdom and sustained collaboration among traditional leadership structures to guarantee peace.

The move comes as the Council also prepares for major traditional engagements, including the forthcoming burial of the late Ochie of Etche, His Eminence, King E.M.B. Opurum, GSSRS, scheduled for November 28 to December 5, 2026, and its annual end-of-year Thanksgiving on the last Sunday of December.

Earlier, the highly revered King Amaechi commended members for their exemplary conduct and unity during the condolence visit of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs over the demise of the late Ochie of Etche, and thanked Eze Omena-Uko-Aku for his solidarity visit to the kingdom.
