*HYPREP* Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, the $1bn Ogoni cleanup project
There are 2 major collapsed projects and many others described as abandoned
1. Collapsed Water Projects in *Gwara Water Station, Khana LGA* - Multi-million naira water treatment plant commissioned with officials from Ministry of Environment. Collapsed 4 days after commissioning after developing structural faults. Reservoir platform gave way and cut water to hundreds of households.
HYPREP said they were"deeply disturbed by the collapse of the overhead tank at the newly commissioned Gwara Water Station"_, and set up a high-level committee to investigate collapse nothing else was heard
*Ebubu Water Facility, Eleme LGA* - Another water tank crashed on November 22, 2025, about 2 weeks after that of Gwara in Khana local government This is the second crash in 2 weeks.
HYPREP statement said it was _rupture of the ground tank at the Ebubu facility which occurred at 10:36am_ and site was cordoned after that as usual nothing else was heard
*2. Abandoned / "Dead" Projects Allegation:*
Ogoni diaspora group in US accused HYPREP of commissioning dead projects. Their president said lifesaving infrastructure has turned into _abandoned shells, rusting pipes and water systems that supply nothing but empty promises_
They claimed water projects in Bodo, Uegwere-Boue, Taabaa and Eteo across Gokana, Khana and Eleme are not functioning, but HYPREP is _parading failure as success_.

Okwale community is a very peaceful community but Hyprep should not take us from granted the paramount said he's wondering why Hyprep should start a project if they don't have the intention of completing it..
Kasimene Bua kua said his people are suffering because an average person in Okwale community can not afford a clean drinkable water because of the pollution.
The paramount Ruler mene Barikui B J Akpa Gbosi Gbarakoro Okwale the Ix and kasimene Bua kua called on Hyprep to order the contractor handling the Okwale community water project to return to site or reaward the contract to a capable contractor.

Said if by the end of this November and nothing is done on the Okwale community water project that Hyprep will leave them with no option but a peaceful protest.
The era of taking Okwale community for granted by both politicians and Hyprep are over the youths of Okwale community is ready to take what rightfully belong to them the paramount Ruler said.
For Christ sake we are not begging Hyprep this is our right Okwale community should have access to a clean drinkable water and Hyprep and their contractor is making that impossible he fumes.
